Hosting - What is PHP?

PHP stands for Hypertext Preprocessor and is a server-side scripting language for creating dynamic Web pages.

PHP is similar to CGI, but PHP is especially lightweight, speedy and uses less memory than CGI and will run on hosting servers that use Windows NT as their operating system - whereas CGI runs only on Unix, Linux.

All web hosting providers allow you to run PHP scripts - if they don't then drop them quickly - they are living in the dark ages.

I've started using PHP more and more in my websites because it much faster than CGI and PHP does not require any special modules to run like some CGI scripts do.
